This article explains how to configure the actions that allocate time against pay codes, and how to set minimum or maximum limits for those actions within a time, schedule, or client schedule rule.

How to Define Actions for Time, Schedule, and Client Schedule Rules

  1. Go to the Edit Pay Agreement screen, then open the relevant rule in the Pay Code Rule Entry pane and click the Actions tab.

  2. Click Add. The Add Action Item Entry pane appears on the right side of the Actions tab.

  3. In the Pay Code field, click the drop-down, then select the pay code or bill code that the action should allocate time against.

  4. In the Quantity Per Hour column, enter the quantity you want to allocate against the selected pay code per hour.

  5. Next to the Time From field, click the clock button, then select the time of day from which time should be allocated against the selected pay code. This step applies only when you define the first action for the rule.

  6. Next to the Time To field, click the clock button, then select the time of day until which time should be allocated against the selected pay code. This step applies only when you define the first action for the rule.

  7. Repeat steps 2 to 4 if you want to add more actions for the rule.

  8. At the header of the record, click OK. The system shows a confirmation message indicating that the pay agreement has been saved successfully.

How to Define Action Limits for Time, Schedule, and Client Schedule Rules

  1. In the Limits section, click Add. A new row appears in the Limits grouping.

  2. In the Quantity field, enter the quantity that defines the limit. For example, enter 10 to set a minimum or maximum limit of ten hours.

  3. In the Limit Type field, select Minimum if the action limit should be a minimum limit, or select Maximum if the action limit should be a maximum limit.

  4. In the Frequency field, select how often the action limit should apply:

    • Per Day – the limit is applied to each day on a timesheet.

    • Per Week – the limit is applied to each week on a timesheet.

    • Per Timesheet – the limit is applied to the entire timesheet.

  5. In the Limit Based On column, select Pay Code Group, then select the relevant pay code group that the action will be limited by. Alternatively, leave Default To Pay Code selected if the action should be limited only based on the pay code that the action uses.

  6. At the header of the record, click OK. The system shows a confirmation message indicating that the agreement has been saved successfully.
