Learn about different types of answers to easily customise your questionnaire page. This article outlines the six answer types you can use to collect different types of candidate data in the questionnaire module.

Available Answer Types

Within the Questionnaire Maintenance module, there are six answer types available:

  • Text.

  • Yes/No.

  • Numeric.

  • Date.

  • Value List.

  • Attachment.

Text Answer Type

A Text question requires the candidate to type a response in a text field.

  1. Select Text as the answer type, then tick Multiple line if you want the candidate to enter a longer response.

  2. Untick Multiple line if you want to restrict the answer to a single line, then save the question.

Yes/No Answer Type

Yes/No questions require the candidate to answer by selecting either Yes or No, but not both. There are three screen control options:

  1. Select Yes/No as the answer type, then choose your preferred screen control.

  2. Choose Radio Button, Drop down, or Check box depending on how you want Yes and No to appear on the page.

Numeric Answer Type

A Numeric question allows the candidate to key in a number.

  1. Select Numeric as the answer type, then decide how the number should be entered.

  2. Configure whether the question should accept whole numbers (for example, 3) or decimal numbers (for example, 3.33), then save the question.

Date Answer Type

Date questions require the candidate to enter a date or time.

  1. Select Date as the answer type, then confirm whether the response should contain a date, a time, or both.

  2. Save the question, then preview the questionnaire to make sure the date or time field displays correctly.

Value List Answer Type

Value List questions require the candidate to select an option from a predefined list. The options in a value list can be text or numeric.

Configure value list options

  1. Select Value List as the answer type, then go to the list of options.

  2. Click Add+ to add a new option, then click the bin icon to delete any option you no longer need.

Actual Display Column and Actual Value

  1. In Actual Display Column, enter the option that will be shown as the answer to the candidate.

  2. In Actual Value, enter the corresponding value that the system will store for that answer.

Enable multi-select

  1. Tick Multi-select to allow the candidate to choose many answers at once.

  2. Save the question, then preview the questionnaire to confirm that multiple selections are allowed.

Attachment Answer Type

Attachment questions allow candidates to upload documents, such as their resumes or passport files.

  1. Tick Mapped Question, then choose Attachment as the answer type.

  2. Tick Can provide multiple attachment to allow more than one file, then tick Must be a document type to restrict files to document formats (for example, doc or docx).
